About Me
My story of where it all began
About My Sustainability Mission
My interest in sustainability began in my youth. Cosequently in my early 20’s I majored in Environmental Studies and minored in Economics. A couple of years later I obtained a master’s degree in Biology. For years afterwards I taught random stangers (not all of them willingly) how to be more sustainable.
Then about a decade ago my dad suggested I start a blog. He contributed to his own blog and thought I would enjoy it. As a typical rebellious kid I ignored his advice simply because he wanted me to do it. Then one day Calliope (the writing muse) appeared and inspired me.
Actually a friend of mine informed me that solar panels were not energy effecient. In fact they used more energy to make and transport than they saved. I decided to look it up and and write an article on it. As I wrote it I got more ideas for articles.
I shared these papers with friends and family. They encouraged me to write more and even suggested new topics to explore. After I had amassed over 20 articles my husband strongly suggested it was time to actually start the blog. So I took the plunge and I began this blog without any idea of what I was doing.
My philosophy remains the same throughout all my posts. I believe that changes-both big and small are necessary to save our beautiful planet. Big changes need to occur at the industrial and political level. Small changes with individual households also need to transpire. Together these changes should yield a sustainable future.
I divided my posts into three categories. These include: climate change, home and yard. Thus, climate change papers discuss the sustainable big picture. Moreover, home and yard posts discuss small picture suggestions. Together these changes can create a sustainable world in which all creatures thrive.
Yours Truly,
